HOTWHEELS FOR BEGINNERS / TYPES. V1.2 (We Keep Updating)
On this Page we give you information about Hotwheels / Types among others. (We try to make this easy for everyone to understand, if you think we should make any improvements let us know.)
Types of Hotwheels
1-Basics
They are the traditional Hotwheels in blue cardboard. They come out… “250” models a year. (These 250 models; They are not the only ones) Each model has a number from 1 to 250. But: Some of them may have a second or third color. Hotwheels also releases some "Special Editions" or special colors for American stores such as: Target, Walmart among others.
As if this were not enough: Within the year, 15 cars called TH (TREASURE HUNT) and 15 STH (SUPER TREASURE HUNT) are released. The TH is difficult to obtain (one comes per box of 72 cars) and in the case of the STH, one comes each. 16 Boxes which would mean 1 every 1152 cars. If you find an STH you are super lucky.
(In this Referential image: We see a Golden BMW with a very shiny and special paint, with a TH logo - Symbol of the STH. The second image we see a golden flame logo printed on the cardboard below the car which is a symbol of the STH )
In 2021 as an Example: A total of 461 Models of the "Mainline" series (that's what Hotheels calls the Basic Models) came out.
(In this Reference Image: the first 2 "Fairlady" cars are the same only that the Red one has the emblem on the right side that says Red Edition, which means that it is a product that will only be available in chain stores Americana TARGET. The Blue Fairlady is a model that is sold in all chain stores. In the case of the Yellow and Green Honda S2000, we noticed that their 1/250 numbering is the same, both are 153 out of 250, which is why I mentioned before. that are not the 250 models, to which are added the color variations and special editions exclusive for certain Retailers).
Among the special models for Exclusives for certain Retailers we find the ZAMACs that are very loved by collectors. They are Metallic Color for which they receive the Name ZAMAC which would be the name of the Zinc and Aluminum alloy.
(In this Reference Image: We see 2 Subaru WRX STI Both are Numbered 68/250 "Marked in a green circle" Then we see that the car is Metallic in color and that the ZAMAC Logo appears on the cardboard which indicates that it is an exclusive model of Walmart stores. As I had already indicated above, Zamac means that the car comes unpainted in the actual color of the metal. Additionally, I have marked in red the text that says: Guaranteed for Life, which is an indication that this car is for sale in the USA. that reach the rest of the world come without that logo. Note: Hotwheels sold in Europe come in a smaller carton.
(In this reference image we show you the Short Blisters exclusive for the European market).
Other additional details that we might need about the basic ones are: They come in boxes of 72 cars. As we have seen, there are 250 Models per year plus their color variants, which in the end end up being 461 Models. "Not all models go on sale at once in stores. During the year, 15 series of boxes marked with letters ranging from A to Q (A, B, C, D, E, F, G) come out. , H, J, K, L, M, N, P and Q). This is also what makes it difficult to get them or have to go to supermarkets to look for them. This is where specialized stores like ZOLADI come in. to help the collector to obtain outdated or difficult-to-find models.
The Models come out little by little in boxes A, B....Q. These boxes do not contain the same number of cars of all models. But some come repeated inside the box and others only 1. It is for this reason that certain models are becoming difficult to obtain.

2 Specials:
We call special Hotwheels series of Hotwheels that come out separately from the boxes of Basic Hotwheels that come in boxes A to Q. These Hotwheels are characterized by having a more colorful cardboard design, belonging to Movies or Series by Anniversary of car brands or Hotwheels Anniversaries.
(In this reference image we show you some models of Special series. Like Fast&Furious the first, 54th Anniversary of Hotwheels for this 2022 the Blue and Day of the Dead
It should be noted that Series like Fast & Furious come back every few years with re-editions of the cars or with the theme of the next movie. The SPECIAL series cars are numbered depending on how many cars come in the collection. It can be 5, 6 or 10 cars. In some cases there is a special car without numbering or numbered, for example 0/5 and not 1/5, this would be the so-called CHASE or difficult to find of each series.
(In this Reference image we see 3 special Hotwheels for the 51 years of Hotwheels in 2019. In the part marked in green it indicates the numbering of the series #6, WITHOUT NUMBER and #2. This means that the Difficult to find one is the one of the center.
These Hotwheels usually come in Boxes of 24 Units. If said collection has CHASE (Hard to Find). Only 1 of the Difficult “Chase@ comes within the box of 24 and the rest come repeated. Again we see another technique that Hotwheels uses to make their models precious and difficult to obtain.
3 Premium Hotwheels.
Hotwheels Premium are a more detailed series. On a more real scale, with better details, paint, completely made of metal and with rubber tires. (Basic and specialty Hotwheels come with hard plastic wheels and simpler rim models.) The Premium Hotwheels also come in series of 5 and in some cases the CHASE model or number 0 that is difficult to find also comes.
Just like the Basic and Special ones come out during the year and the older the model is, the more difficult it is to get and the more expensive it becomes. Note: In Peru they are not found in Supermarkets, therefore the option is to bring them or buy them in a specialized store like ZOLADI .
(In this Reference Image we see 2 Premium Hotwheels. The one on the left from the Modern Classics Series and the one on the right from the Hotwheels Boulevard Series.)
Premium Hotwheels are also characterized by having larger and better quality cardboard than the basic and special ones.
There are many series of Hotwheels Premium, one of the best known being the Boulevard series. This series is not 5 models like the rest of the series, but rather they are numbered from 1 onwards. Now it is numbered 30. There are also several more collections like the Modern Classics that release new series of 5 every so often. The same goes for the Fast&Furious series that releases different collections with some different names.
(In this reference photo: We see 3 Fast&Furious Premium Hotwheels El Primero from the Quick Shifters series, in the center of the FastSuperstars series and El Tercero from the Euro Fast series).
We can also find Premium ones in special packages. Where we receive 5 cars in a gift-type presentation box.
(In this reference photo: we see 2 packs of Hotwheels Premium, one of the Fast&Furious Quick Shifters series where we receive the 5 models of the Quick Shifters series. The second photo is of the Forza Motorsport Set where 5 cars also come.

5 Hotwheels Team Transport.
The Team Transport are a similar series or the Premium series where 1 car comes with a truck or trailer. Just like the Premium Boulevard series, they do not come in series but with a numbering.
(In this reference photo: We see 2 Team Transport models. In the Jagiar, if you notice the #14 in the red, it cannot be read in the photo but it is #24.

6 RLC:
RLC or Red Line Club. They are Hotwheels that are purchased only on the “Hotwheels Collectors” page by paying an annual Membership. HotWheels Collectors is making release date announcements for its cars. In general, the cars that leave in this method are gone in a matter of minutes. They also appear on resale a few days after launch. Their prices rise quickly in most cases.
7 Other Types of Hotwheels:
Monster Trucks, Color Shifters and others that we will talk about in the next updates of this Blog.
Why Collect HotWheels or Who Collects HotWheels?
1 Car Fans in General.
2 We bought them as children's toys and ended up liking them.
3 We are fans of a series or movie and we want to have more of our favorite character.
4 We want to follow the tradition of our parents or grandparents.
5 We want our children to follow our tradition or become car fans like us. Leave a legacy or our collection to them.
6 (Although this is the most controversial or hated part by some) Hotwheels generally gain value over time and are also a way to save or have savings. 2 years ago you could get Hotwheels for 5.9 Soles today they cost 8.9 “in supermarkets” Generally all models go up in price because there are those who are looking to have an older model and certain models manage to have more value due to how difficult it is to find it and how symbolic it is. famous that the car can be.
Mattel (Owner of HotWheels), who are specialists in seeking to get people addicted to these collector cars, seek to make their models sought after: They manufacture fewer of the coveted models, allowing people to pay almost 30-70% more. within the year in which the desired model came out. (People pay more for being difficult to find, for being able to complete a series of their collection, etc. etc.. (Let's remember when we were children and we needed a figurine to complete our album or album page... we offered 5 or 10 figurines in exchange for just 1 that we wanted).
Therefore, in a way, collecting Hotwheels could be a good form of savings and investment, taking into account that today there are many non-tangible/speculative investments or savings and not as fun as HotWheels.
7 For fun, as I mentioned in the previous point, recreate those childhood times of exchanging figures from the album. Making new friends, learning more about cars, brands/models... could not only be fun but lead us to a passion for these small pieces of metal with cute designs.
